I spent the first 10 years after high school trying to decide on a career path. Over the last decade, however, I realize that I did not have to choose one particular career path; I could instead craft my dreams and aspirations into reality and create a life and business that fulfill all my desires. My passions — love of food, need to serve, ability to create, a penchant for great gatherings, and a strong need to help others succeed — can all be intertwined. ROAR is for others like me, who prefer to craft their own path.
Graduating with a degree in Political Science, from Columbia University, my family wanted me to become a lawyer. And for a very long time, I believed that’s where my path lay. Even after starting my catering company, Fleurimond Catering, fears and doubts still lingered and lasted for years, as this was not my expected path.
After 15 years as a culinary professional and caterer, with clients including Dr. Mehmet Oz (Healthcorps), Paul Weiss, Stephen Colbert, Vivica A. Fox, BET, Ogilvy & Mather and the White House, most people would consider me a success. My friends and colleagues wanted nothing more than to see me evolve within this field. But while I loved cooking and catering, something still did not feel right. Though cooking and catering are my passions, I am much more.
